This woody was in a fire that took the remaining wood that was on the car, Warped the metal, bubbled the paint and ruined the Chrome. What we thought as a total loss turned out to be otherwise. We took her down to the frame, media blasted the body to bare metal, straightened out the warped hood and roof, which took the hardest hits in the fire, pulled the dents, Painted the frame with Industrial strength Gloss Black Paint. Pulled the old flathead motor out, rebuilt motor mounts for new 302 motor, Placed the body back on and proceeded to straighten her out.
Once we got her straight, we had to tackle the wood. At the time I was introduced to David Henderson, Concord D' Elegance Award Winning Boat and Woody Builder. Who took me under his wing and Mentored me through the Process. A kit was bought from Wood N' Carr, in San Diego. A big job for a rookie. My learning curve was a straight line, Straight up! By the time it was done, David had such faith in my abilities, he trusted me enough to finish Varnishing the wood on his 100 point 51' Ford Woody, Currently a work still in progress.
For paint we went to John Patchett and Ken Spencer, up in Atascadero. Who did a fantastic job! They took such a liking to me that they invited me back to learn more from them about the art of painting, that I took on the challenge of painting the next Ford Coupe that we came across.
We ordered a kit for the wood headliner that was fit and finished during the time the interior was put in. The inside Panels are Birch that we got lucky and found, with a beautiful wood grain.
The car is finished and is a DAILY driver. Getting to see it around San Luis Obispo is quite a kick.
I'd like to thank everyone that has lent a hand, a word of advice or offering up a beer. Cheers.
Thank you to David Henderson, You have changed my life forever.
A special Thank You Mark Biedinger, For believing in me and and putting up the funds to see a dream come true! Safe Driving.
Keith.

After the fire, this was the first Phoenix to rise. We cut our teeth using this car as our sharpener. We straightened her back out and painted her. Went through her, and she was good as new.

Stripped down this boat to bare wood, tightened up the bottom and re-sealed her so she doesn't take in any water, re-stained her and varnished her 10 times to protect her from the elements.
